Dr. Schulman has been awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the United States government to outstanding scientists and engineers who are in the early stages of their independent research careers. Rebecca’s award is funded by the U. S. Department of Energy. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy coordinates the PECASE with participating departments and agencies. At the spring meeting of the Materials Research Society, Phoenix AZ, Phillip Dorsey, a 4th year PhD Candidate in Professor Rebecca Schulman’s research group, presented his research regarding DNA programming in biomaterials, entitled, “DNA-based Attractor Patterns”. His talk focused on the assembly of self-organizing and healing DNA-based patterns using digital photolithographic and microfluidic fabrication processes, which has the potential to facilitate the development of new classes of soft biomaterials programmed with nucleic acids. His presentation received Best Oral Presentation Award for the Synthetic Biology Symposium at the conference.

At the spring meeting of the Materials Research Society, Phoenix AZ, Phillip Dorsey, a 4th year PhD Candidate in Professor Rebecca Schulman’s research group, presented his research regarding DNA programming in biomaterials, entitled, “DNA-based Attractor Patterns”. His talk focused on the assembly of self-organizing and healing DNA-based patterns using digital photolithographic and microfluidic fabrication processes, which has the potential to facilitate the development of new classes of soft biomaterials programmed with nucleic acids. His presentation received Best Oral Presentation Award for the Synthetic Biology Symposium at the conference.

April  2019:

At the spring meeting of the Materials Research Society, Phoenix AZ, Phillip Dorsey, a 4th year PhD Candidate in Professor Rebecca Schulman’s research group, presented his research regarding DNA programming in biomaterials, entitled, “DNA-based Attractor Patterns”. His talk focused on the assembly of self-organizing and healing DNA-based patterns using digital photolithographic and microfluidic fabrication processes, which has the potential to facilitate the development of new classes of soft biomaterials programmed with nucleic acids. His presentation received Best Oral Presentation Award for the Synthetic Biology Symposium at the conference.
